The leak suggests that new models of the iPad Pro are not likely to make their appearance at the Apple event today.

Apple suffered an embarrassing leak of its major product announcements today, just hours from its highly publicized Gather Round event at Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park.

An XML sitemap file available briefly on Apple.com included URL links for the full range of iPhone and the company's new Apple Watch Series 4, but the iPad Pro was different from the list of links.

Apple has been working on updated iPad Pro models that adopt an iPhone X style design with thinner glasses and no home button.

Rumors have suggested that the new iPad Pro models would be available in screen sizes of around 11 and 12.9 inches, with Apple using chamfered edges similar in design to the iPhone SE. The antenna lines on the device can also be located at the top and bottom, as on the iPhone 7.

Based on today's leak, there is a good chance that Apple has decided not to announce its new iPad Pro for a launch event in October. If that's the plan, Apple will likely use next month's event to announce a series of new Macs, including updated iMacs, a new Mac mini and a new low-cost MacBook Air.

In addition, the fate of Apple's AirPower wireless charging mat remains uncertain. Apple launched AirPower in September 2017 and promised to launch it in 2018, but development issues have delayed its release.

The AirPower is designed to simultaneously charge the Apple iPhone (Series 3 and 4), Glassback iPhones and AirPods, with a wireless charging box needed to enable wireless charging of AirPods.

In July, BloombergMark Gurman said that Apple's goal was to launch its AirPower multi-device charging mat "before or in September," but there is no mention of the AirPower in the XML sitemap mentioned above.

On the other hand, Apple might consider hosting the device on its website under a generic "Accessories" list, which could theoretically give it a non-identifying URL link. But given the clear list of other upcoming products of the company, this possibility seems unlikely at this stage.

Of course, Apple could still surprise us later by unveiling both its new range of iPad Pro and AirPower, but we will have to wait.

The conference begins at 10:00 am Pacific time. MacRumors will cover the live event of the Steve Jobs Theater, with a live blog, hands-on photos, reports, videos and live tweets via @ Macrumorslive on Twitter.
