The massive expansion of Warframe in Fortuna adds hoverboards and a new open world

Over the years, Warframe has gone from a modest online action game to one of the most remarkable free-to-play hits on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Since its inception, the online actor with "space ninjas" at the helm has slowly expanded its repertoire of locations, playable characters and loot to gain within its sprawling and ever-changing universe. Warframe, whose fan base has grown exponentially since its launch, has continued to grow and is now ready for its largest update to date.

Before the launch of the Fortuna expansion, game director Steve Sinclair took a candid look at the development process of the massive update updated by Digital Extreme's offices. The developer, which gathered more than 45,000 viewers on Twitch, explained the amount of work needed to launch the extension, while offering teasing on the future.

With the Fortuna extension, available as a free PC update, with the consoles that will follow, you will return to the planet Venus and discover a new threat that is slowly preparing. Introducing another open world to explore and a faction of cyborgs known as Solaris United, Fortuna expands the planet and existing systems of Warframe in the widest possible way. With two distinct areas of Venus in which to dive, the Orb Vallis surface and the underground depths of the Fortuna colony, you will participate in a quest that gradually introduces pivotal characters and a new frame to acquire.

This expansion follows in particular the fantastic Eidolon Plains of last year, which introduced the first open world space of Warframe on Earth. As a second large-scale map, you will be able to explore the places as you please, while taking part in all the parallel activities and dynamic events that occur. As in the previous expansion, you will also have a new center to explore, where you can interact with many locals and special characters to learn more about their own stories and discover events. The weapon manufacturing system also allows you to combine components to create new melee weapons and new firearms.

In these new areas, you will also find mini-games of wealth and activities you can participate in, including favorites such as fishing and mining, which have seen some improvements. Fortuna also introduces a new hunting activity, focused on finding rare creatures in the wild. But instead of hunting for sport or equipment, you will save these animals from extinction. Although there are many small animals to meet, Fortuna also offers many other types of special monsters, which are a little harder to find than others.

In order to help players cover more ground in Fortuna, Warframe introduces a hoverboard that players can acquire. Known as K-Drives, these vehicles are unlocked once key missions are complete. While Archwings are always available – allowing you to hover over areas of the map – hoverboards are a little faster and you can even do some tricks when you have enough air. After meeting a friendly faction of the colony, you can apply new enhancements and customization options to your board, which will provide more style when you grind and navigate the map in depth.

With the next version of Switch, Warframe certainly seeks to offer more variety in the content, but also in the way you want to play. Fortuna now offers a large amount of content to players, in addition to a number of quality of life improvements. This new expansion should be another big step forward for the game – a new visit that is well worth it.
