Unlike the last big console adventure in the Dragon Quest series, the music of Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of a Elusive Age is fully synthesized. Some Dragon Quest fans were disappointed by this backtracking, especially since Dragon Quest 8 on PS2 had a brilliantly orchestrated soundtrack. If you are among the disappointed, never fear: a mod has been released that allows you to replace all the music of DQ11 with pre-existing orchestral versions of the songs.
"The purpose of this mod is to provide an auditory experience worthy of this masterpiece by applying all available orchestral variants of the songs in the game, composed by Koichi Sugiyama and performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra," reads official description.
This is the work of four modders who have adapted the work of pre-existing Symphonic Suites. It was not enough to just plug these audio files into the game: you had to create loop points, smooth out volume changes, and edit FMV sequences. More work and more, that's why the mod is in development since the launch of the PC game.
"For all those involved, it was an extremely exciting and passionate project," wrote one of the modders. "Our team appreciates your love for Dragon Quest games and all the words of support we have received since the announcement of this mod.The REFUSE team and will not accept any form of donation for this project, everyone loves these games like you and you believe that's the best way to experience one of the best participations in the series. "
You can find a tutorial on installing the mod on the Steam community of Dragon Quest 11.
