Today, GoPro has announced the Hero7 Black, the highly anticipated and fleeing successor of the Hero6 Black from last year.

The new camera retains the same physical design and many key features of its predecessor, including a 12MP sensor, supporting 4K recording up to 60 frames per second and 1080p up to 240 frames per second. However, it adds a whole new set of features, the most important of which is a very improved image stabilization system called "HyperSmooth".
HyperSmooth is a hardware-assisted digital stabilization system that uses motion prediction to improve performance. With HyperSmooth, GoPro promises a "gimballed" stabilization, allowing the camera to be used by hand in situations where the previous model would require an external stabilizer such as the GoPro Karma Grip.
According to GoPro, HyperSmooth is the "best camera-integrated video stabilization ever presented in a camera." While this bold statement has not yet been verified by independent testing, GoPro's own video examples reveal a significant leap in stabilization performance over the Hero6 Black.
Another novelty of the Hero7 Black, its ability to broadcast live video directly on social media platforms in horizontal and portrait modes. The camera will now detect vertical use and will automatically switch menus to the screen in portrait mode. Menus have also been simplified and made more intuitive.
The Hero7 Black also introduces a new "TimeWarp" mode that speeds up longer video captures, compressing them into much shorter videos while stabilizing them with HyperSmooth stabilization. Think of them as a much smoother version of the Hyperlapse videos that you may have taken with your phone.
Although the Hero7 Black does not include the larger sensor or higher frame rates that some may have hoped for, the new features, as well as many other smaller enhancements, result in an upgrade. significant level compared to Hero6 Black.
Million Dollar Challenge
