The new iPad Pro is about to become incredibly brave – BGR

Apple is expected to launch two new iPad Pro models later this year, which will result in a significant redesign, according to previous reports. The new iPads are expected to get the same Face ID identification option as the iPhone X, according to reports, which means that tablets will not have a Home button (or Touch ID) and that they will have even thinner glasses.

A brand new report on Asia now says that the new iPad Pros will be even more brave than that.

The Japanese blog Macotakara has unearthed more information about new iPads from suppliers. The 2018 iPad Pro will be in the same sizes you expect, including 10.5 inches and 12.9 inches, but they will be smaller than their predecessor.

The new 10.5-inch model measures 247.5 x 178.7 x 6 mm, compared to 250.6 x 174.1 x 6.1 mm for the current version – agree, so they are almost the same size. It's on the 12.9-inch model that you will notice the difference. The new measurement measures 280 x 215 x 6.4 mm while the existing iPad Pro measures 305.7 x 220.6 x 6.9 mm

The iPad Pros will have a "diamond cut" design at the same time. front and back, report notes, just like the iPhone SE.

Macotakara also says that tablets will have a forward-facing TrueDepth camera that will provide face recognition support, but the feature will only work in the mode portrait. This is apparently the reason why the Smart Connector has been moved down, near the Lightning port, by the side. This is the connector that allows you to use keyboards with the iPad Pro.

This means that you will have to connect the tablet in portrait mode rather than in landscape mode, which seems incredibly stupid, especially for the larger model.

Reports said that Face ID would also work in landscape mode on the tablet.

Of course, when I said courage, I meant something else, although the Smart Connector reinstallation qualifies as well. The new iPads will not have 3.5mm headphone jacks, the report notes. This means that you will need to get a compatible Bluetooth headset, or simply use a dongle. It's the iPhone 7 again, but for tablets.

No word on when the new iPad Pros should be launched, but an autumn version is very plausible.
