Niantic continues to roll out new features for Pokemon Go. In addition to the trading and friend lists, both of which were introduced in the mobile game earlier this year, the developer recently announced that it was working on a PokeStop appointment system. Now he has revealed another new feature on the way to the game: Adventure Sync.
With Adventure Sync, you can track your walking distance even when Pokemon Go is idle. This should prove to be a practical addition, especially for hatching eggs; Previously, Pokemon Go only tracked your walking distance during game launch. If you were trying to hatch a Pokemon, it would be necessary to let it run while you were walking.
In addition to this, Niantic indicates that Adventure Sync will provide a weekly summary that shows the progress of your incubator and Candy, as well as other activity statistics. You will also earn rewards every time you cross a certain milestone and set push notifications for when an egg will hatch or as your Pokemon buddy discovers a candy.
Niantic has not announced when it will deploy the Adventure Sync feature, but the developer says it's "coming soon". The feature will also connect to Apple Health on and to Google Fit depending on which handset you have. You can find out more on the Pokemon Go website.
The month of October was particularly busy for Pokemon Go. The first wave of Gen 4 Pokemon was released recently. The third annual edition of the game, Halloween, is also underway, bringing the first legendary Gen 4, Giratina, to battle. Meanwhile, the next community day will be Saturday, Nov. 10, and will feature Generation 2 starter Cyndaquil.
