Oak says that he remembers seeing the monster in ancient texts and that it is a mythical Pokemon known as Meltan.

Meltan is classified as a nut Pokémon. It is a pure steel with a fluid and amorphous body made of liquid metal. According to the official Pokemon website, Meltan can use his arms and legs to corrode and absorb metal. It can also generate electricity, which it uses both in combat and as a source of energy. It's unclear how players will get Meltan, but as The Pokemon Company has already revealed, you'll have to connect Pokemon Go to the next Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee for the first time. in the Switch games. More details will probably be revealed closer to the release of these games.
