The new public release of the Windows 10 October update is approaching, while Microsoft fixes several bugs

Microsoft has found and solved more problems with the Windows 10 October 2018 update after removing General Availability to test its fix for the disastrous file deletion bug.

Microsoft has released its first new version of the Windows 10 update from October 2018, version 1809, to Windows Insiders since stopping deployment and relaunching the preview tests with a new version containing patches for the bug.

The new preview version replaces the original version 17763 in 17763.104, which is linked to the cumulative update KB4464455. The version was released by insiders on the Slow and Fast rings.

In particular, the update corrects "several problems" with driver compatibility.

Microsoft is not saying which driver compatibility issues it has solved, but last week it detected faulty Intel and HP drivers delivered to Windows 10 and later versions 1803 and 1809 and implemented fixes to remove them from affected systems.

The anomalous HP driver problem was triggered after users installed the first cumulative update for version 1809, which was itself designed to address an issue that caused user profiles to be removed under certain circumstances.

Microsoft has also corrected issues related to its battery optimization feature, Connected Standby. In some cases, applications stopped responding after leaving Connected Standby.

When the 1809 version was made available to the public, some users noticed that the Task Manager was generating inaccurate reports on the use of the CPU – a problem that is present during the bug fixing efforts. Microsoft.

"We corrected the problem of displaying incorrect details in the Task Manager under the Processes tab," Microsoft notes in this release.

This corresponds to the description of the problems in the Task Manager noticed by Reddit users after the installation of version 1809.

Finally, Microsoft "fixed several issues with third-party antivirus and virtualization products." There is no description of the cause of compatibility issues.

Microsoft has not yet revealed when it would restart the 1809 version of Windows 10. When it released the 1809 version preview with fixes for the file deletion bug, the company also updated its Feedback Hub app to allow users to report the severity of any problem experienced.

The company will republish 1809 once it has been validated by Windows Insiders and will confirm that the problem has been properly addressed.
