The new Resident Evil 2 Remake trailer reveals Ada Wong's new look – Variety

Capcom released a new trailer for his Resident Evil 2 remake at the Tokyo Game Show on Thursday. He presents some of the classic horror characters of survival, including the femme fatale Ada Wong.

When "Resident Evil 2" was released in 1998, Ada wore a fabulous red dress. Now, like any good spy, she's wearing a trench coat and dark sunglasses. Apparently, Capcom decided to give up the iconic look of Ada because it was unrealistic, said game director Kazunori Kadoi at Eurogamer during this year's Gamescom.

"It comes down to the same thing, what would it seem natural to walk around in a photorealistic environment in?" Kadoi said. "I think walking around this dress probably has not been as realistic and believable as we want in this new game."

Someone should tell Capcom that wearing dark sunglasses at night is not very realistic either.

The new look of Ada is not the only change in the remake. It avoids the original "zapping system", where the two main characters of the game, Claire and Leon, have experienced the same scenario from two different angles (an "A" scenario and a "B" scenario). The player can choose to start the game with one or other of the protagonists. Claire and Leon this time have their own independent campaign and Capcom said their collective experiences were a complete story.

"[The Zapping System] was a unique way to get the unique perspectives of two characters on a story, "said producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi in a recent interview with Variety. "But that inevitably led to the rehearsal, because you had to go through several games to see several things. We want to have a more efficient way to get the players to see everything in the game. So we kind of shuffled the stories A and B of each character into one, so you can pick from Claire's campaign or Leon's campaign and see both sides of the story this way.

"Resident Evil 2" comes out on January 25 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
