Overwatch Update

Blizzard has announced that its next major patch for the successful multiplayer shooter, Overwatch, will require a complete reinstallation of the game on all platforms.

A note on the Blizzard forum explains that the development team introduces "fundamental" and "substantial" changes that can not be simply corrected on the current game. Therefore, a full reinstallation is required to manage the changes.

Blizzard's official statement left many people perplexed as it gave the impression that this evolution would only affect PC customers. However, in an email to Kotaku, the studio called it a "remastered" patch that would affect all platforms.

Among other things, the update will optimize memory, improve loading times, reduce disk space Overwatch occupies on the PlayStation 4, fixes bugs on various cards and makes changes to support future content.

Upcoming content includes the newly announced new hero, Ashe, and at least six other characters. Blizzard also indicated that he was considering other PVE events and stories.

The big remaster patch does not have a release date or window yet, but Blizzard has said it wants to give players a head start well in advance.

"We know it's not ideal for people with meter connections, so hopefully this announcement will help you prepare for the next update," the developer wrote.

We will update our readers when we have more information.
