The October update of the Xbox One is being deployed and offers some new features for the Microsoft console. The features in this update allow you to use more voice interactions, more easily view HDR movies with streaming services, and customize your Avatar.

The Xbox Skill feature lets you interact with your Xbox using Alexa or Cortana devices, with greater accuracy than previous Kinect voice commands. For example, Microsoft says that you can ask Alexa to "launch Forza Horizon 4" and, in response, Xbox One will start, log in, and launch the game, all without any additional orders being required. Other commands include starting mixer shows, capturing screen captures, and adjusting the volume. To begin, you must download the Xbox Skill in the respective stores.

To promote the new feature, Amazon will offer a bundle that includes an Amazon Echo Dot with new Xbox One S or Xbox One X purchases. This agreement is coming soon, but supplies will be limited.

Recently revised avatars are also available to all users. These focus on inclusion, with a greater variety of body types, more accessories and the ability to dress in any type of garment. You will see the new Avatars on your own profile, in the activity stream and in the Gamerscore ranking, and more. You can use a photo booth to take a picture of your avatar to use as a profile picture. In addition, if you want to keep your original avatar, this option is also available.

The update also adds Dolby Vision HDR streaming to supported TVs. For now, it only supports Netflix, but Dolby Vision will expand its offering to more apps in the coming months. You can activate it via the Settings menu. Finally, the narrator added Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Swedish, Dutch and Australian English.
