The official Amazon wireless gaming console is no longer supported by the new fire TVs

Amazon has ensured that users of Amazon Fire TV with the suspended design can no longer use the official Amazon Fire TV game controller. The controller is incompatible with the Fire TV device after the last third generation device software update 6.2.5.3. Scuttlebutt suggests that the Fire TV Cube will soon lose gamepad support.

This move was not an accident with a new footer warning for the Fire TV game controller that reads "Not compatible with Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD – Design, TV Smart Fire TV or Fire TV Cube." This leaves the only device compatible with the Fire TV game controller as a Fire TV key. The Fire Stick TV is still on sale for $ 25 for premium subscribers right now.

It's unclear exactly why Amazon has removed controller support for these devices. The reports indicate that if you have a Fire TV 3 that runs version 6.2.1.3 of the software, the previous version of the software, the Fire TV controller continues to connect and runs smoothly. Another strange thing is that although the warning states that the Fire TV game controller does not work with Fire's cube TV, it still works with the latest 6.2.2.4 software. This particular update of Fire TV Cube was launched on the devices this week.

Older devices still support the game controller, including Fire TV 1, Fire TV 2, and Fire TV Stick 1.
