TEAR.

The OnePlus 6T will not have a headphone jack, confirmed OnePlus CEO Carl Pei in an interview with TechRadar. The reason that Pei has given is the one we have already heard: save space inside the device. This space, in this case, will be occupied by a larger battery and a built-in fingerprint reader.

Pei was excited at the thought that the removal of the plug was not just related to OnePlus. "We do not do it to do it and because everyone is doing it, we think the time has come, because it will benefit the majority of our users while keeping the weak spots," he added. Improvements in battery life due to internal free space will be "large enough for users to realize".

According to Pei, the majority of OnePlus users – at least 59% – already own wireless headphones. For the rest? Well, there will be a 3.5-millimeter USB-C dongle in the box. Oh, and OnePlus introduces two new pairs of Bullets headphones: one wireless, which we saw an FCC deposit a few days ago, the other wired with USB-C. Everyone wins, I guess?
