What is old is new. The Ram 1500 of the current generation will continue to live for a few months, reconditioned as a new "Classic" model for sale alongside the brand new 2019 truck. But unlike other "classic" report templates like the Nissan Rogue Select or Volkswagen Tiguan Limitedthis one was not exactly planned.
To see the 2019 Ram 1500 is currently in a kind of "hell of productionAccording to Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat-Chrysler. As we have previously reportedThe Sterling Heights assembly plant of the new truck outside Detroit "probably works today at 60% of the cycle". It is said that this facility operates seven days a week with two 10-hour shifts each day, and is expected to produce fully loaded trucks in the coming months to meet customer demand.
A number of factors, including supplier difficulties, led to the slow ramp-up of Ram 1500 production in 2019. Currently, deliveries of new models have been largely limited to equipped trucks. the 5.7-liter Hemi V8. Ram's new lightweight E-Torque Hybrid – standard on V6 models and optional on the V8 – does not seem to be in production yet.
So, enter the Ram 1500 Classic 2019, a carryover version of the 2018 model that will continue to be produced at both the factories of automaker Warren, Michigan and Saltillo, Mexico.
"As we launch the all-new Ram 1500 of 2019, we no longer wanted to get away from a key segment of the light truck market: Ram will continue to produce the 1500 Classic for entry and commercial buyers, "Mike Manley said in an official statement.
Ram will offer the Classic 1500 in the value-based Tradesman, Express, Big Horn, Lone Star and SSV (Special Services Vehicle) versions, with a choice of two or four-wheel drive. These trucks can be ordered in regular, quad, and Crew Cab configurations with three different bed lengths. Powertrain options include the FCA's 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and even a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel, which will be re-commissioned at a later date.
While Fiat-Chrysler has not yet stopped production on Ram 1500 model year 2018 trucks, the new 2019 Classic model will only officially go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2018. As of now, Ram expects to produce the 1500 Classic through the end of the 2018 calendar year.
