The remake of MediEvil is beautiful at wish

At the end of last year, Sony launched an HD remake of the classic PlayStation MediEvil game. The trailer was not very revealing, but today, on Halloween, Sony has revealed what players can expect from this remake: a game as polite as a museum skeleton.

As with other remastering and remakes of the PlayStation icon, the remake of MediEvil will faithfully translate the artistic style of the original game into a new game engine. The incessant but charming smile of the protagonist of Sir Daniel Fortesque (all exploit if you consider that it does not have the lower jaw), but the new engine makes the graphics absolutely brilliant. The lights shine and bounce off Sir Dan's strangely virgin armor, and the landscapes are almost like Tim Burton.

Now, the MediEvil remake is not an individual translation of the original game. All good remakes try to improve the source material, and judging by the trailer, that's exactly what we do. Formerly barren, the polygonal walls now swarm with creeping vines and ivy; the camera has been reworked to allow players to take a closer look at Sir Dan's cadaverous face, and the undead enemies of MediEvil have had a new life with beautifully reworked models.

You may be wondering if the remake will attempt to change MediEvil's core game mechanics, and if the trailer is an indication, its hack and slash actions and platform challenges will remain intact. Of course, we do not know if the developers will include new supplements, but most players would probably have been satisfied with a simple remake of the classic. Everything that has happened after upgrading the HD visuals is just the icing on an already delicious cake.

The remake of MediEvil will be launched in 2019 for the PlayStation 4. Only time will tell if it joins Crash Bandicoot and Spyro with the PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch ports.
