Destiny 2: Forsaken's new Gambit mode is a welcome addition to the game, but ask many players what they would change about it and you'll probably hear the name Sleeper Simulant. The exotic weapon is the ultimate choice for countless players since the first day and complaints about it convinced Bungie that she had to change.
In her latest weekly blog post, Bungie introduced a change of Sleeper Simulant. In addition to making adjustments to the way it treats players who stop or log out during Gambit, picking up power ammo in the mode will now give you fewer hits with Sleeper. Rather than the four you had previously – easily enough to invade the opposing team and eliminate it completely – you have more than two. (All swords, meanwhile, receive a buff, receiving 12 ammunition instead of six.)
This change of Sleeper has no direct effect on its effectiveness, but it limits the damage it can cause. This is what Bungie said he hoped to do when he announced for the first time that changes would happen. "We are aware of information that Sleeper Simulant would feel too strong in Gambit," Bungie said last month. "The Sandbox team is studying potential changes to fix it.Our goal is to retain the power of the weapon, but optimize it so that it is not the only viable power weapon in Gambit. Stay tuned. "
Bungie plans to deploy it as part of Update 2.0.5. The release is scheduled for October 30, but the developer warns that the plans could still change.
Simulating Sleeper is not actually a new gun for Forsaken; he was part of the second DLC of Destiny 2, Warmind, as a reward for a long series of quests. It has always been good – and fun – but with the importance of killing players in Gambit, it has become an important part of the game.
It remains to be seen if this really changes things; it is possible that another linear fusion rifle will take its place. This will not be the last change in the game, and many changes are coming, as well as the launch of the Festival of the Lost on October 16th.
