Nintendo has finally confirmed that the online services for Switch will be available from 18 September America and on September 19 in the UK. Plus, people will be able to sign up for a free seven-day trial on the Eshop at launch. As noted earlier, the service allows subscribers to play online games, enjoy a regularly updated library of NES titles, and back up certain data stored in the cloud.
Subscriptions can be purchased in increments of 1, 3 and 12 months for $ 3.99 / $ 3.49, $ 7.99 / $ 6.99 and $ 19.99 / $ 17.99 respectively. These options are one per Nintendo account holder; a family subscription is also available for $ 34.99 / £ 31.49, allowing seven more people to take advantage of Nintendo Switch Online.
On September 11, it was reported that not all Switch titles would support cloud backups, with titles such as Pokemon, Let's Go Pikachu! / Eevee, Dead Souls Remastered, Dead Cells the ability to back up data.
Further details on the Nintendo Switch Online service will be provided at a Direct event to be held on September 13th. This event was originally announced for September 6, but was delayed after a powerful earthquake that struck Hokkaido. During reprogramming, Direct Nintendo will also discuss further information on upcoming Nintendo Switch and 3DS titles.
The Direct is expected to last about 35 minutes, indicating that it will feature some ads and trailers. Nintendo says the broadcast will focus on upcoming titles for Switch and 3DS, but beyond that, no other details have been revealed.
The Direct starts at 3:00 pm Eastern Time in North America, while the stream will begin at 11:00 pm European time.
