The third generation of Chromecast, unannounced, sold at Best Buy, in Bluetooth

Google's big hardware event on October 9 is fast approaching and that means we're in the middle of a leaky season for upcoming products. The ad should be the Pixel 3 smartphone, but Google usually advertises five different products at these events. In addition to the phone, we expect a flagship tablet under Chrome OS that also serves as a result of Pixelbook, smart screen "Google Home Hub", and what about a new Chromecast?

It looks like the new "3rd generation" Chromecast is coming and GroveStreetHomie, a Reddit user, has managed to buy one from a local Best Buy store. The images posted by the user show the usual form factor of the Chromecast hockey washer with a new design: one that replaces the glossy logo and the Chrome logo with a matte body and a "G" logo. GroveStreetHomie says the Best Buy system correctly marked the product with a release date of Oct. 9, but the cashier called the Chromecast product in the second generation and allowed the customer to go out with him. Apparently, the new Chromecast can not even be activated yet because it depends on a newer version of the Google Home app, which has not yet come out.

After the initial release, 9to5Google also managed to tag images of the new Chromecast. These showed the device in its entirety, including the new FCC ID, which reveals exactly what is "new" in this new Chromecast: Bluetooth! In recent months, this new Chromecast has appeared in FCC databases with additional Bluetooth functionality. It now seems that its launch is finally launched.

Google's plans for a Bluetooth-enabled Chromecast are unclear, but the obvious application would be some kind of remote controller or game controller. A remote could turn on an Android TV-like interface on Google's USB drive. A game controller could mean that Google's "Yeti" streaming game service will be launched. One of the actions against one of these options is that the box does not mention games or an on-screen interface as new features. Currently, Chromecasts are initially paired with a phone via Google's "Nearby" technology, which uses ultrasonic waves to communicate with your phone. It is possible that it is still the same old Chromecast, but the coupling is replaced by a more traditional configuration based on Bluetooth.

We'll be on the lookout for other Chromecast news at Google's big event, which will be held in a few days.
