The VW Passat GT is officially a marvel

Volkswagen is working hard to prepare for the follow-up of the current Passat sedan. But by then, buyers who watch the Passat will be faced with a limited range.

Volkswagen will reduce the range of the 2019 Passat to just two versions, reports The Car Connection, citing a conversation from VW. The only two versions available for the 2019 model year will be the Wolfsburg Edition and the SE R – Line. The S, SEL and GT sport versions will be deleted after the 2018 model year.

According to The Car Connection, the Passat Wolfsburg Edition will serve as a basic model. It will have a keyless start, an imitation leather interior, blind spot monitoring and automatic braking. A sunroof and larger 18-inch alloy wheels (17 inches are standard) will be available as an option. Moving to the SE R-Line trim adds adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, an infotainment system with navigation and LED headlights and taillights.

In terms of powertrain, the slaughter also removes the V6 280 horsepower range. The TCC reports that the only engine available will be VW's 2.0-liter I4, which develops 174 horsepower and 184 pounds of torque, and is coupled exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Although Volkswagen has not offered any additional information on the 2019 Passat, including pricing and sales dates, most people will continue to look for the next generation Passat, which could be put into service. line as early as the 2020 model year. There will likely be a number of upgrades on the recently redone Jetta, including Volkswagen's digital cockpit, which replaces the gauge group with a configurable display, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The Passat GT was a nice mid-size sedan. It was lower and more angry than the other variants of Passat, a bit like a Jetta GLI but bigger. In fact, it contained many GLI design staples, such as a more aggressive front bumper with a red trim.
