Yesterday, Microsoft began to reissue the Windows 10 October 2018 (or Windows 10 1809) update, with a series of fixes. This time, the software giant recommends waiting until the new update is offered to you, rather than forcing the installation, which is a wise decision. There is no guarantee that you will not encounter problems after installing it if your system is not fully compatible.
Although I do not agree with the description given by my colleague Brian Fagioli of Windows 10 as a "stinking shit", there is no doubt that the October 2018 update was a kind of mess and published without adequate quality control. The last iteration of the update fixes a lot of issues (all of which should have been fixed before it was first released), and if you installed it for the first time, you'll want to recover the update as quickly as possible . This is different in this version.
KB4464455 (OS Build 17763.107) *
- Resolves the problem where incorrect details were displayed in the Task Manager under the "Processes" tab.
- Resolves an issue where, in some cases, the IME would not work during the first process of a Microsoft Edge user session.

Microsoft had previously identified and corrected the problem causing the loss of personal data by some users. John Cable, director of program management, maintenance and delivery of Windows, explains: "In addition to a strong internal validation, we have taken the time to closely monitor feedback and diagnostic data of our Windows Insiders and the millions of Windows update of October 10, and we have no other evidence of data loss. "
To download and install these updates on an existing Windows 10 1809 system, go to the address settings > Update and security > Windows Update and select Check for updates.
Although the new version of the October 2018 update fixes many issues, it does not solve the problem of the default applications that many users encounter. Microsoft says:
After installing this update, some users can not set Win32 program defaults for certain application and file type combinations using the Open with… command or settings > applications > Default Apps. In some cases, Microsoft Notepad or other Win32 programs can not be set by default.
To remedy this problem, the company suggests "trying to restore the default settings of the application", could job. A real solution should be available by the end of the month.
