Apple has provided participants with its beta testing program for developers of new releases, with the third versions of iOS 12.1, tvOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1 arrivals a day after the latest beta version of macOS Mojave.

Developers who have registered for the test program can use the latest versions after performing a wireless update on enrolled devices or following the instructions in the Apple Development Center. Public beta versions usually arrive a few days after the developer's beta versions and can be purchased from the Apple Beta software website.

The third developer beta for iOS 12.1 is version number 16B5077c, replacing the 16B5068i version two.

Until now, the beta version of iOS 12.1 seems to be a minor update, the main change being the inclusion of FaceTime group support. Some minor changes have also been found in the code, such as Face ID's horizontal support, which will likely be useful for newer iPad models expected to land later this fall.

Apple has also announced the addition of 70 new emoji in iOS 12.1, included in the beta versions.

The details on the content of tvOS 12.1 beta are unknown, but version 12.1 will likely consist of bugfixes and performance improvements, rather than new features.

The third beta version of tvOS 12.1 is 16J5593c. The second beta version was build number 16J5584c.

The third beta version of Apple's watchOS 5.1 carries the version number 16R5577c, up from the first 16R5568d developer beta.

Like iOS 12.1 and macOS 10.14.1, the information provided in each beta is relatively poorly known. For watchOS 5.1, it is now able to answer FaceTime Group calls on the Apple Watch, while still being able to handle the call through the audio until the User can access an iOS device to continue video.

AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly discourage the installation of beta versions on mission-critical hardware due to the risk of data loss and other problems. Those interested in the beta test should use nonessential devices and keep backups of all important data before installing or performing updates.
