The latest Fortnite patch introduces not one, but two new elements into the game. We already knew that the huge Port-à-Fortress would be going to play this week, but it will be accompanied by another element: the Spiky stadium.
According to Epic's latest release notes, the Spiky Stadium seems to be working the same way as Port-à-Fort. Throw it somewhere on the floor and where it lands, it will open up to its maximum size. In this case, it means a box, two panels high, seven wide and 11 long. On the walls of this box, there will be a collection of bounce buffers and spike traps, which promises a number of chaotic attacks.
There is something appealing, however, as the Spiky Stadium will only be available in Playground mode, the sandbox-y alternative to Battle Royale. It's probably just as good for one thing, I can not see a situation where it's really helpful against enemy players.
The exclusivity of the playing field is interesting because I can not think of any other element that can only be found in a particular mode. Spiky Stadium should still have fun, even if Epic does not know exactly what it will be. In their release notes, they say that once the stadium appears, it will be "ready to play any mini-game your team can think of." Be assured that Spiky Stadium will not be going to the Royal competition soon.
The new object will arrive in today's Fortnite patch 5.41, with the massive Port-a-Fortress. This should give you a few days to play before the arrival of Fortnite Season 6 – you can find the new item in the Playground Mode's red feed drops (as well as a bunch of Impulse Grenades, for even more chaos).
