Lures facilitate grinding
You gain experience by catching Pokémon. When you do it, all your party wins experience and likes Pokemon Go, you can enhance this experience by taking the same monster multiple times, either by taking the first throw or by catching a Tiny or Huge Pokémon, indicated by the red or blue swirls around them on the map. Use the Favorite system to save your best monsters
When you catch all the monsters in sight to send them to Oak, it can be easy to lose the thread of those you really want. I like to sort the Pokemon in my box by Combat Power. Basically, those who have greater combat power have better overall stats than other Pokémon. You can do this by pressing Y in your Pokémon box. You can also sort them by level, captured order, and two other ways. To make sure you do not accidentally send a very good Pokémon to Professor Oak, you have to choose it. To do this, select the Pokémon you wish to keep, then scroll to "Change Markings", then choose the first, which is Favorite. The Pokémon you have favorites can not be sent to Oak and you will receive a warning if you choose to send them by accident. I have thus avoided that many useful Pokémon are turned into candies.
Use all your candies

You may think that leveling your Pokemon is the best way to make them stronger, but you should also use all your candies. Make provisions before the Elite Four
Like all Pokémon games, you will have a decisive battle with the Four Elite. You must beat them all in a row. This means that you will not be able to heal your Pokémon between two battles by going to a Pokémon center. As the rest of the game is so easy, it's tempting not to go to the store before confronting them. That would be wrong. Make do not jump. These battles are not devastating, but they are more difficult than the rest of the game. Elite Four is not afraid to use status effects and you will want to be able to counter it. At the end of the game you will be able to buy Max Potions, Revives and Full Heals.
