It may not be so different from today's generation car, but the 2019 Range Rover Evoque is a breakthrough in terms of embedded technology and efficiency. The recently unveiled high-end crossover boasts an evolutionary exterior design, numerous interior kits and intelligent technology. Here are the five main novelties of the Evoque 2019 that will head to the Indian market next year.
New platform
The Evoque 2019 is built on Land Rover's new multi-dimensional, superior cross-sectional architecture, which offers more interior space than before. A longer wheelbase offers additional space for the rear knees of 20 mm and an increase in storage volume for small items. The larger glove box and central chest can now accommodate large shelves and bottles. The cargo space is also 10% larger (591 liters).
New cabin design
Inside, you'll find two high definition touch screens on the center console. The upper screen controls the infotainment, while the lower screen controls the air conditioning and other essentials. The shifter is now a classic joystick instead of the rotating dial of the previous car. There are also a host of modern connectivity features in addition to several driver aids.
Self-learning skills
The 2019 Evoque is the first Land Rover with Smart Settings, which uses artificial intelligence algorithms to know the preferences of the driver. In addition to the seat position, music and climate settings, the Evoque can also control the steering column preferences for maximum comfort.
Improved off-road technology
The Evoque is equipped with an all-wheel drive as well as a second-generation active transmission with disconnection of the transmission to improve efficiency. The Terrain Response 2 – found for the first time on the full-size Range Rover – automatically detects the surface on which the vehicle is driven and adjusts the configuration accordingly. The 2019 model can now run through water up to 600 mm (previously 500 mm).
Hybrid plug-in transmission
The new platform was developed for electrification, with a lightweight 48-volt hybrid available at launch and a plug-in hybrid model offered approximately 12 months later. The light hybrid powertrain is a first for Land Rover. It recovers the energy normally lost during deceleration, thanks to the built-in generator on the belt mounted on the engine, which stores it in the battery on the ground. At a speed below 17 km / h, the engine stops while the driver applies the brakes. When starting, the stored energy is redeployed to assist the engine in acceleration and reduce fuel consumption.
