Samsung has been the leading supplier of smartphones by sales volume for several years and has maintained its leading position in different ways. One of them is to offer a wide range of high quality smartphones covering all prices, from entry-level phones to ultra-premium flagship phones. Another solution is to spend billions of dollars each year on marketing and advertising. Of course, those watching the industry for ten years will always remember how Samsung started. The company's initial transition from "stupid" cell phones to smartphones has not been easy and its first handsets have been terrible in every way. The company played with a number of different designs before embarking on the Infinity Display design we all know and love, and it has become a signature feature of all of Samsung's flagship phones. If a new leak happens to be accurate, however, there will be a version of its next Galaxy S10 that will have a totally different design from the rest.
The Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 + and Galaxy Note 9 are certainly not the most exciting smartphones the company has ever released. Each model is almost identical to its predecessor in terms of design, and none of them offers really compelling features that have pushed users to buy them in stores. As a result, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + are poised to become Samsung's best-selling Galaxy S smartphones since 2012, and Note 9 has been virtually forgotten by the technical media just a month after its release.
These may not be the most exciting phones, but they are certainly the best phones in the world in terms of design and performance. In terms of design, they feature Samsung's exclusive curved screen on the front and curved glass similar to the back. The result is a phone that looks stylish and comfortable to wear, and that's what we expect from all of Samsung's new high-end smartphones.
The Galaxy S10, eagerly awaited next year, will feature new features such as the fingerprint sensor on the screen and up to five cameras. But another reason why people are so excited about the phone is the new design. The phone will still include Samsung's curved Infinity Display Signature, but the bezels above and below the screen have been assumed to be much smaller. It is likely that it is closer than Samsung has ever managed to get the all-screen design that people expect, and so far, we thought that each version of the Galaxy S10 would have the same look. According to the world's largest supplier Samsung, however, this will not be the case.
Ice Universe has a long history of leakage of accurate information about new Samsung products. In fact, no one has been more prolific in recent years. With the rapid arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S10, he started sharing new information on the next series of flagship phones. And in his latest post on Twitter, his new article is a surprise.
We know that Samsung is working on three different versions of the Galaxy S10, just as Apple is releasing three versions of its new iPhone this year. We will have a Galaxy S10 and a Galaxy S10 + as we did with the S9 this year, but there will also be a third new model that should have less impressive specifications and a lower price. In its new leak, Ice Universe shared Samsung's model numbers and screen sizes for all three phones. But it's the rest of the information he shared that is a surprise.
The SM-G973 is the main Galaxy S10, which we know that it will feature a 5.8-inch curved Super AMOLED display, and that the SM-G975 is the largest Galaxy S10 + with a curved screen of 6.44 inches. But it seems that the SM-G970 will sport a different design with a flat screen, abandoning the Infinity design of Samsung. We obviously can not confirm anything at this point, but it was probably done to reduce costs so that Samsung can offer the phone at a much lower price. The Super AMOLED flexible panels that Samsung uses in its flagship phones are expensive, and it is of course even more expensive to fold the glass that covers them.
Samsung's three new Samsung Galaxy S10 phones are expected to be unveiled early next year, likely as early as CES 2019, early January. A fourth model is also in preparation, but if the rumors circulate, it will only be a Galaxy S10 + compatible 5G.
