As of around 9:30 am, Twitter users with mobile notifications turned on have been receiving alerts saying … nothing. The messages, containing strings of character and insane numbers, overwhelmed the phones, but once opened, they simply headed to the last part of the Twitter user's open.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey acknowledged the problem Tuesday morning in a tweet showing a package of his own wrong notifications. "We see this problem too," said Dorsey's tweet. "Above."
Dorsey added that the problem "should be solved now".

The Twitter support account then explained that the red bubbles that appear next to the notifications were displayed as numbers in code form and not in the form provided.

But even if there is an explanation of what happened to the notifications of many users, the exact cause of these notifications remains a mystery. Dorsey tweeted that his team had said, "We do not know exactly why, but we quickly returned."
