Android 9 Pie was launched two months ago and today is receiving its second update with the October security patch. A number of Google Pixel and Pixel 2 bugs are also covered in this update, including one about fast charging and Android Auto.
The security patch of October 2018-10-01 and 3 for 2018-10-05 solved 23 issues. The vulnerabilities range from the highest to the most critical, the most serious being related to the multimedia infrastructure and a remote attacker. execute arbitrary code via a specially crafted file.
As usual, Google notes that no customer has been affected by these security issues. In its Android security review in 2017, the company said that 30 percent of additional devices were patched compared to the previous year.
In the meantime, the dedicated newsletter for phones and tablets Google does not list any security patch, but 4 functional updates. The fix solves a problem of fast charging on the original Pixel devices, while the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL benefit from better stability Android Auto. During this time, all devices will receive a "modified call filtering behavior when using Maps Navigation".
