Updates to Popular iOS Titles 1Password, Dashlane, LastPass, and Keeper provide support for the Apple Automatic Password Entry Tool, an integrated password management plug-in that is now open to third-party applications on iOS 12.

With the latest versions of 1Password, Dashlane, Keeper and LastPass, users no longer need to rely on share sheets – or switch between applications – to fill in password fields found on the web or in applications requiring connections authenticated.

Previously, automatic password entry was limited to the iCloud keychain, but the new features added to iOS 12 allow for integration with third-party password managers that implement an information provider extension. 39; identification.

In practice, the new feature makes password manager information easily accessible from any application that supports system-level functionality. For example, users can apply information stored in third-party applications to fill out the online login forms presented in Safari.

To enable automatic password entry, go to Settings> Passwords and Accounts and activate Automatic filling of passwords. Users can then select which password management applications are compatible with auto-fill features, including the iCloud keychain.

Once enabled, users can access password credentials in support applications by pressing Automatic Password Fill – a small key icon that appears above the software keyboard – and selecting information from the desired service. The device authenticates its user via the face ID, touch ID, or PIN before entering the provisioned text fields, such as the user name and password. .

Support for automatic password entry for third-party applications is one of the many new features included in Apple's iOS 12, which was marketed earlier today. The next generation operating system incorporates branded features such as the Screen Time Life Management Tool, Advanced Augmented Reality functionality via ARKit 2.0, Memoji for iPhone X, Siri shortcuts and more.
