USB TV broadcast to remove iOS and Android Xbox apps

A few years ago, Microsoft gave players the opportunity to stream live TV on their tablets and smartphones through the Xbox app. Since then, many players have used this feature because not everyone has a Windows 10 device. If you were using an iOS and Android device, that was the only solution.

Unfortunately, it seems that the iOS and Android Xbox apps will soon lose this feature. The company has sent messages to many owners of Xbox One – including us – stating the following.

You may have streamed TV content using a USB TV tuner from your Xbox console to the Xbox application. In 30 days, the Xbox application will no longer support this feature. You will still be able to watch TV content on your Xbox One console streaming to the Xbox application on Windows 10.

Why did Microsoft make this decision? It is unclear why the company wants to limit availability, potentially with a lack of use. We have contacted Microsoft for feedback and we will keep you posted as soon as we receive a response from the team.

The company has recently removed a number of Xbox entertainment features, which probably will not appeal to iOS and Android TV enthusiasts. Hopefully Microsoft will soon announce a replacement or integrate it into the next streaming service that is expected to go into beta next year.
