The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class will arrive in the United States early next year, but we will only get it at the start. A220 sedan. Our European friends, however, have this little number in vogue: the Mercedes-AMG A35, which debuts this week at the 2018 Mondial de l 'Automobile.

The power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine, developing 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox allows you to change gears and transmit power to all four wheels via Mercedes 4Matic all-wheel drive. Mercedes says it will only take 4.7 seconds for the small A35 to go up to 62 km / h.

It's also a cute little thing, even with all the added aerodynamic bits. The rear wing is … a little too much. But the 18-inch wheels and the bright yellow paint bring a nice touch. The blue car with bronze wheels exposed in Paris is particularly attractive.

Inside, the AMG A35 gets the same kit as the rest of the A-Class. This means the same sleek and luxurious cockpit that we will appreciate in the A220 to US specifications, with a pair of infotainment from 12.3-inch and gauge displays, powered by the latest MBUX technology.

Mercedes says we will have some sort of AMG Class A sedan in the United States, but it could be a more powerful A45. For the moment, we are going to erase the saliva on our keyboards while we covet this delicious defended fruit.
