Borderlands 2 receives a version in virtual reality. 2K and Gearbox have announced that a new version of the 2012 game, Borderlands 2 VR, would arrive on PlayStation VR on December 14th.

The VR edition was developed internally at Gearbox Software. You remember, it's the same Borderlands 2 experience, but in reality and with some twists and turns. The VR edition includes a feature that lets you slow down time – it's called Bad Ass Mega Fun Time or BAMF Time.

"Activating BAMF Time will give you the speed and reflexes of an enraged skag, allowing you to dodge bullets, shoot 360 ° head, and even use your skill Action to fight off. hordes of bandits, bullies and all that Pandora could do Brian Burleson, producer of Gearbox, said in a blog post.

Unlike the traditional Borderlands 2 game, the VR edition is exclusively in single player mode. This meant that Gearbox had to adjust the character skills that required a co-op partner, including Maya's "Res" ability. In the VR edition, this is called "Empathy", and that has changed a lot.

This causes "Phaselock will deplete half of your current health, causing damage to enemies based on how much life you have lost, and doubling the care provided during BAMF time," explained Gearbox.

Gearbox has also updated the skills of the four classes of the game – Siren, Commando, Gunzerker and Assassin – with "unique fighting styles" that exploit virtual reality in some ways. And when you drive a vehicle, you control the steering wheel with the motion controllers and the helmet. In addition, you can move around the world with the traditional approach to the joystick or "teleporation pointed" mode.

All people who pre-order have a dynamic PS4 theme featuring the four main characters: Salvador, Maya, Axton and Zer0. In the United States, Borderlands 2 costs $ 50, but international pricing has not been announced.

"Presenting this special spicy sauce in a world of virtual reality is beyond what we could have hoped for all these years ago," Burleson said. "We are delighted to be returning to Pandora for the holidays, and we hope you too, all aboard the shitty train!"

Launched in October 2016, the PlayStation VR has been sold to more than 3 million units since then. According to Sony, Skyrim VR has been the most played game on PlayStation VR to date. The PlayStation VR, Rec Room, Resident Evil 7 and The Playroom VR worlds complete the top five.

In May of this year, Sony acknowledged that the growth of the global virtual reality gaming market was below that expected by the company. NPD Group video game analyst Matt Piscatella believes that console VR will remain a "niche" market.

Borderlands 2 has sold more than 18 million copies. It should therefore become one of the biggest games, behind Skyrim, for launching a VR version for PlayStation VR. While Borderlands 2 VR is an exciting ad in the Borderlands universe, fans are probably more than eager to finally see the long-awaited Borderlands 3. In 2017, Gearbox studio director Randy Pitchford alluded to Borderlands 3 , saying that 90 "work on what I think most of you want us to work." The game has not been officially announced yet.

Take-Two, the parent company of 2K publisher Borderlands, recently announced that one of the next big games of 2K – probably Borderlands 3 or the next BioShock – had been postponed to 2019 or 2020.
