Why we think we know about the launch of Apple's iPad Pro on October 30th

Who sends an invitation with more than 350 different images? Apple is who, and this is exactly what the company did by inviting the media to its next big iPad Pro and Mac, which will take place in New York on October 30th.

"There is more to do"

Apple has invited selected media to a special event in the lavish setting of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, a capacity of more than 2,000 people, Oct. 30 at 10am Paris time.

Since then, we've discovered that there are more than 350 iterations of the brightly colored Apple logo on the front of the invitation. The slogan is "There is more to do".

This is the second time this year that Apple has chosen to host a launch east of San Francisco. The event reminds me of my annual pilgrimages to Apple's annual product announcements at the Macworld Expo in New York and important moments like the G4 Cube, the introduction of the 17-inch iMac and Steve Job's explanation of concept of "digital hub", which means to wear everything on our wrists.

What are the benefits for the company?

Business users will be looking for performance and productivity improvements for Apple's mobile products and will not be disappointed (see below) as it introduces Mac laptops at a lower cost, well-improved iPad benefits and improved Mac mini systems (finally) that squarely focus on business use cases, such as using as low-power servers, and so on.

What will introduce Apple?

We never really know what Apple will reveal. Even the fleet of Mark Gurman's nanoparticle-sized HYDRA spy drones (or what they are) does not see everything, does it?

What we think we know is that Apple plans to launch new iPad Pro models, new Macs, and possibly updated versions of its Apple Pencil, AirPod, and possibly, but not AirPower .

We've already looked at most of these expectations, but here's a quick recovery:

New Macs

Apple should introduce a new high-end product at a higher price Mac mini with a more affordable Apple laptop, perhaps a successor to the MacBook Air.

We expect the new Macs to use Intel's eighth generation Kaby Lake processors and the laptops will be equipped with Retina displays.

These new Macs are expected to help boost Apple's computer sales, pending the introduction of new high-end Mac Pro next year. It will be interesting to see the impact of recent speculation that Apple plans to convert these machines to its own A-series chips in 2020 could have on sales. It will also be interesting to see applications coming to Mac from iOS once Marzipan ships in 2019.

New iPad

Productivity is paramount and the invitation to the event seems to indicate that the new iPad Pro 11 and 12 inches will be strongly focused on creativity. You can create works of art, create music, edit images and movies and perform real-life production work for adults.

As Planned in more detail here, important highlights may include:

  • Facial identity,
  • An office performance,
  • No wearing for headphones
  • Better battery life

It should also be considered a strong argument that companies like Gartner and IDC should immediately start counting iPads as PCs in sales, even if that would make Apple the world's best-selling PC maker. Questions: Will Apple Produce an Improved iPad Pro Keyboard? Could his new low cost laptop be a kind of hybrid Mac / iPad? We will wait to see what Apple manufactures.

Apple Accessories

Apple Pencil, AirPods can see an update. Apple Pencil can gain wireless support, perhaps through the improved smart connector of the new iPad, which can also be magnetic. Expect less latency and better pressure sensitivity.

With a customer satisfaction rate of 98%, it is not surprising that you see the AirPods more often in the ears in most streets of the city. This year, we should see the hands-free Siri and the introduction of a new W-series wireless chip. Water resistance is also possible – it was originally planned for 2019, but there are only a few months left.

AirPower may still be a parade, but I would be very surprised not to see positive attention given to HomePod – perhaps a new model for cars?

What else to wait for?

Apple says nothing more, but I rather like the expression. I think we'll know a little more about the international deployment of Apple TV contracts with cable operators, and perhaps a brief overview of the video content that Apple plans to show next year.

How can I watch the event?

Apple will broadcast the event live from its website.

(Visit the site now and look at the image there, then refresh the page to see a completely different design, the estimates are different, but there could be between 350 and 500. Why?)

You will also be able to view it with the help of the company's Apple Event app on Apple TV and other devices. Of course, I will write my disconcerting, sometimes incoherent, but usually very popular live event blog at the time of the announcement – stay tuned for more details.
