Carbine Studios, the developer of the WildStar MMO and founded by former Blizzard employees, is closing its doors. The game also ends.

The NCSoft studio owner confirmed the closure in a statement in Kotaku. "Today, we are closing Carbine Studios and going to start the WildStar liquidation process and finally close the game," the company said.

Refunds will be available for in-game purchases. In addition, NCSoft stated that it "was identifying the teams that will do the work to bring WildStar to completion."

"These decisions are very difficult to make and we are moving as many of our teammates as possible into other roles within the organization," NCSoft said.

According to Kotaku, 50 people lose their job as part of the Carbine closure. The studio released its first game, WildStar, in 2014; It was launched with a subscription model before moving to free-to-play as part of a major update in 2015. The studio was working and hiring "a number of exciting new projects" but it seems that everything is over now.

In 2016, Carbine suffered significant layoffs due in part to WildStar's performance in the market. In addition, the launch of the game in China has been canceled. Carbine says that WildStar's PS4 and Xbox One versions were possible, but never took place.

GameSpot has contacted NCSoft to try to get more details on this situation. keep checking for more.
