Withings launches Pulse HR business follower at $ 130, its second product since the split of Nokia

Withings, a health-care apparel company, is back today with its second new product since co-founder Eric Carreel bought his company from Nokia earlier this year.

Its first new product, the $ 200 Steel Sport smartwatch, launched in September, has been dubbed "smart watch". Withings today launches the $ 129.95 Pulse HR fitness tracker.

In the current state of things, Withings sells smart watches, general health monitoring devices, such as blood pressure monitors and connected scales. Prior to Nokia, the company had also developed a range of Pulse branded business monitoring. This is how Withings continues its activities with the Pulse HR.

At first glance, it looks like a Fitbit Charge 3 activity tracker, although the Withings incarnation lacks a touch screen.

As the name suggests, the Pulse HR has a heart rate monitor similar to its predecessors, but there are other notable differentiators this time around.

As you can see in the photo below, the Withings Pulse (2013) and Withings Pulse O2 (2015) could be removed from their respective size and wrist-sized containers and placed inside. 39, other belts or supports.

The Withings Pulse HR, by contrast, looks more like a watch, as it is permanently attached to its bracelets. But the differences only begin here.

The Pulse HR is water resistant to 50 meters, which means you can go swimming this time. Plus, it also offers connected GPS tracking, which means you also have location intelligence, even if your phone needs to stay close to you at all times.

In terms of body, it sports a black polycarbonate surface inside a stainless steel case, with a black silicone strap that can be changed to other colors.

Same device, different body

In many ways, the Pulse HR looks like the Steel HR smart watch, but in a different body. Indeed, it has many of the same features in addition to the above-mentioned heart rate monitor and connected GPS. It also allows you to track a multitude of different sports, for example, and displays your calories burned, the percentage of progression to a predefined number of daily steps, the quality of sleep and even notifications from your smartphone. The Pulse HR also promises a battery life similar to that of the Steel HR – about 20 days.
