Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 announced: features, features, price

Xiaomi announced the Mi Mix 3, the latest entry in its flagship phone series in full screen. It is yet another Chinese high-end device with a huge screen-to-screen ratio obtained by hiding the front cameras on a sliding mechanism – no notch is required. Unlike Vivo Nex or Oppo Find X, the slider is not powered by motors. The CEO, Lei Jun, compares the design to older sliding phones and suggests that you can relax playing.

The previous two Mi Mix phones were Xiaomi's two pioneering attempts to reduce the glasses around the screen as much as possible, but they pre-date the omnipresent notch and are compromised by clumsily placing the selfie camera under the screen, Forcing you to hold the phone upside down or facing at an unflattering angle. Even Xiaomi herself has adopted the notch earlier this year with the Mi 8. But the Mi Mix 3 preserves the spirit of the series while apparently correcting one of its biggest flaws.

Xiaomi boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4% and has reduced the "chin" at the bottom of the screen by almost 4.5 millimeters compared to the Mi Mix 2S.

From a specification point of view, the Mi Mix 3 moves the series to OLED with a 6.4-inch 1080p panel. There are four cameras in total: 12-megapixel wide angle and telephoto end-to-back modules and a 24-megapixel selfie camera backed up by a 2-megapixel sensor at the front. The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the back. Therefore, unlike the Oppo Find X, you do not have to open cameras every time you want to unlock it.

As with virtually all other high-end Android phones this year, the Mi Mix 3 features a Snapdragon 845 processor, but opens up new memory bases by including up to 10GB of RAM. Xiaomi also associates the phone with a 10W wireless charger. A 5G version is expected to be released in Europe next year.

The Mi Mix 3 starts at 3,299 yuan ($ 475) for a model with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage; This is the same basic price as the one launched by the Mi 2S of 64GB. 3,999 yuan ($ 575) allow you to get 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 10GB model is a variant of the special edition "Forbidden City", with 256GB of storage and costing 4,999 yuan ($ 720). Prices for India and other markets are expected to be announced soon.
