Facebook has given users many reasons to consider switching from their data breaches to the scandals surrounding electoral interference.

Now, the application, known to keep people connected, increases the time needed for the main profiles to be permanently deleted.

Historically, if you tried to get rid of your account, Facebook would grant a grace period of 14 days to allow you to change your mind. Now the site has doubled this time to 30 days.

"We've seen people trying to log in to accounts they've chosen to delete after the 14-day period. This increase gives people more time to make a well informed choice, "said a Facebook spokesman at the edge.

But not everything benefits the user. Keeping people longer on Facebook also benefits the company. The bigger the advertising giant can keep more than 2 billion connected users, the better for the business.

After 30 days, your account and all your information will be permanently deleted and you will not be able to recover them.

According to the Facebook Help Center, the removal of everything you posted may take up to 90 days from the start of the removal process. But while the company erases this information, it is not accessible to the public.

If you want to take a break without committing yourself to quitting, Facebook has an option to temporarily disable your account. People will not be able to see or access your Facebook profile, but your photos, posts, and videos will not be deleted, and you'll be able to reactivate them by signing in whenever you want.
