Your Samsung phone can send private photos to your contacts without permission

Online dialing and dialing are pretty bad, but what if your Samsung phone sends private photos to your contacts without you knowing?

This is what worries a handful of Reddit users (as Gizmodo has noticed) – including one who claims that his Samsung Galaxy S9 + sent all his photo gallery to his girlfriend while he was sleeping. Another who says that this has happened on his Galaxy Note 8.

Redditors quickly pointed out that the most affected phones seem to be on T-Mobile, which has recently improved users to RCS [Google] "Advanced Messaging." There is a post on the Samsung forums about bugs with the RCS update, but we have no confirmation of these bugs.

The problem also seems to coincide with a new version of the Samsung Messages application, which could be related to the RCS update, or not, according to. You can try using another SMS application and / or revoke photos permissions from the Samsung Messages app to be safe.

"We are aware of the reports on this and our technical teams are looking into the matter, customers are encouraged to contact us directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG," reads Samsung's statement.

T-Mobile tells CNET "This is not a problem of T-Mobile", adding "You will want to check with Samsung on this one."
