On October 16th, YouTube experienced a crash that affected all of its users, including YouTube Music and YouTube TV customers. Although the sites were not stopped long before being restored, Google offers a week – long service credit to affected YouTube TV customers. A new support page has been created to allow customers to use their credit.

YouTube TV subscribers received an email from YouTube apologizing for the outage that occurred earlier this week. "We love our television as much as you, and our goal is to make sure you can access your events and shows – whenever and wherever you want," says the e-mail.

Customers who sign up on October 16 can now visit this Google Support page and enter their email address to use a free week of service. The user must enter the email address associated with his YouTube TV account to get the credit. In addition, the redemption period is only available until October 24th.

YouTube had acknowledged the downtime of its Twitter Team YouTube account, where it said it was working on service restoration. Only a few minutes later, the service posted another tweet announcing that YouTube was back online, but no explanation of the downtime was provided.
