McCoy announced his decision to leave Texas on May 31, with all indications suggesting a return to USC.

However, he did not mention the Trojans in his statement about his transfer, so naturally, USC supporters insisted on assurances to be sure that he would return to the Cardinal and to the Gold.

They finally have it.

The five-star athlete registered for the USC in January, but left for the Longhorn after two weeks, dismissing the Trojans after Kliff Kingsbury got an NFL head coach with the Cardinals from Arizona.

McCoy was expected to be the best USC category prospect in 2019, ranking ninth in the 247Sports composite. Wide receiver and linebacker gifted in high school, he is positioned as a leader in the game.

Losing it in Texas was a blow to the Trojans. The recovery is a major victory for the 2019 offseason.

Unfortunately, this will probably not be important for the upcoming campaign. McCoy is expected to spend a year in accordance with the NCAA transfer rules.

Since he was number 5 at Mater Dei and the USC had not given the jersey since he retired in recognition of Reggie Bush's Heisman Trophy win, McCoy will have to pick a new number with Trojans. We had some clues on Tuesday in the official announcement of his return. In one image, McCoy wore a No. 1 jersey. In another, he wore a number 15.

Velus Jones Jr. decided not to be transferred. It is therefore likely that he still retains the number 1. This means that number 15, worn by Talanoa Hufanga, could be in McCoy's future.

This will be determined during the publication of the fall camp alignment. At the very least, Trojan fans can breathe knowing that McCoy will be present.
