Utah COVID-19 cases on the rise Wednesday, positivity rates continue their downward trend

SALT LAKE CITY – The tally of new COVID-19 cases reported by the Utah Department of Health on Wednesday jumped in the hundreds on Tuesday.

The UDOH announced 729 new cases, as well as seven new deaths from the coronavirus. Five of the reported deaths occurred before February 10.

Utah had only reported 487 cases as of Tuesday.

The state’s seven-day moving average for the number of positive tests is 590 per day. The 7-day moving average of the percentage of positivity of “people to people” is 10.2%. The 7-day moving average of the percentage of “test-to-test” positivity is 4.8%.

Officials also report that a total of 759,533 vaccines have been administered in Utah.

With the seven additional deaths, the state’s death toll now stands at 1955:

  • Male, aged 45 to 64, resident of Salt Lake County, resident in long-term care facility
  • Male, aged 65 to 84, resident of Box Elder County, resident in long-term care facility
  • Female, over 85, resident of Salt Lake County, resident in long-term care facility
  • Female, aged 45 to 64, resident of Salt Lake County, hospitalized at time of death
  • Female, aged 65 to 84, resident of Salt Lake County, not hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, aged 65 to 84, resident of Salt Lake County, not hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, aged 65 to 84, resident of Washington County, resident in long-term care facility
