A new kind of border war between the University of Wyoming and a Colorado school is brewing, this time in the virtual realm.
UW’s Esports Club will host the University of Colorado (CU) in the auditorium of UW College of Arts and Sciences on Saturday, October 2, for a day of competitive video games and entertainment.
The game’s border war begins at 3 p.m. at a hatchback-style event at Prexy’s Pasture. The games competition in the A&S auditorium starts at 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
“It will be exciting for all involved, as this is the first large-scale competition between the two schools,” said Tony Delaurante, the club’s outreach coordinator.
The event will feature various esports teams competing on stage in games such as League of Legends, Valorant, Overwatch, and Call of Duty. In addition, the UW Esports club recognizes the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative.
“Our hope is for spectators to see friendly and competitive matches, advancing both clubs and supporting the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative,” said Delaurante. “For this event, all members of the UW team will be wearing pink jerseys to further express their support for this charity.”
