A student at the University of Wyoming at Cheyenne is the first winner of a weekly $ 1,000 prize for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine as part of an Albany County vaccination incentive program.
Cole Munari, a graduate management student with economics minors and honors, won the award from the You Call the Shots program, organized by a coalition of community members with the support of local businesses. This is a separate effort from that of UW student vaccination declaration incentive program.
“Winning this drawing was a huge surprise, and an incredible surprise,” said Munari, who received the vaccine because of the very vulnerable family members and for “overall safety for myself and for others” . As a full time student working in customer service, I wanted all aspects of my life to be protected from the virus that has turned our world upside down.
“I would recommend vaccination for other students for obvious reasons of public safety, moving towards a new normal with routine vaccinations and allowing our community to move forward,” Munari adds. “More vaccinations and reports can help get our university back to what college was when I started my freshman year.”
You Call the Shots features weekly raffles and other prizes up to $ 2,500 for local residents to roll up their sleeves and make Laramie a safer place to work and live. Albany County residents 12 years of age and older can register to be part of the designs at https://cityoflaramie.org/1185/Vaccine-Project.
Every Monday through October 4, there will be a weekly draw for a cash prize of $ 1,000. Several grand prize packages, including a cash prize of $ 2,500, will be awarded in October. Registration is open to residents of Albany County who have received their first vaccines. The complete vaccination cycle is required in order to exchange the prices; winners must present proof of vaccination. The winners will be announced on social networks every Friday following the weekly draws.
In addition, while supplies last, $ 25 gift cards will be given to those who receive the vaccine at the time of vaccination at these locations: Albany Community Health Clinic, Grand Avenue Urgent Care, Ivinson Medical Group, Pole Mountain Pharmacy, Ridley’s, Stitches Acute Care and Walmart.
You Call the Shots partners are Albany County Public Health, Town of Laramie, Downtown Clinic, Downtown Laramie, Ivinson Memorial Hospital, Laramie Chamber Business Alliance, United Way of Albany County, UW and Wyoming 2-1-1.
