A fully vaccinated Michigan couple died from COVID-19 – less than a minute apart and holding hands, according to their daughter.
Grand Rapids residents Cal Dunham, 59, and his wife Linda, 66, who had pre-existing health issues, began to feel sick on a family camping trip this month, reported Fox 17.
“[My dad] called me before our family camping trip and told me he’s not feeling well, but he thinks it’s like sinuses, and [Linda] caught it and she said, ‘He gave me his cold,’ “their daughter Sarah Dunham told the outlet.
“On the third day, they woke me up and said, ‘We have to go because we’re not feeling well.’ So I packed them all and they left, ”she said.
Within days, their conditions deteriorated and they found themselves on ventilators. On Monday, they died after being removed from the resuscitation system – Cal at 11:07 am and Linda less than a minute later.
They held hands when they died in tandem.
“She always joked and said, ‘Well you’re going to go before me, I’ll be right behind you, I promise. And she really was, like she really was there behind him, ”Sarah told Fox 17.
“The love they found together after a previous marriage is fantastic,” she said. “It was the people you just looked at and you were like, ‘I want to be old like this, I want this love when I get this age. “”
The grieving girl also expressed her frustration that many people do not take the deadly virus seriously.
“I’m angry because so many people are like, ‘If I get COVID, I get COVID, that’s what it is. No it’s not, ”she said.
“It can be anyone, it can be anyone. They did everything right, they did everything to establish the protocol of how it should be done. “
It is not known what underlying health issues the couple had.
