The push continues for herd immunity against the coronavirus in our region, especially among minorities.
A vaccination clinic was held Saturday at the Ezell Hester Jr. Community Center in Boynton Beach. People who came for the vaccine received a free $ 100 Visa gift card as an incentive to convince people to get the vaccine.
Pfizer and the Johnson and Johnson shots were administered to around 200 people. There were a large number of homeless about 25 of them who came to get vaccinated. They received the unique blow from Johnson & Johnson.
Doctors we spoke to say that approximately 20 children aged 12 and older have been vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine today.
Dr Dwight Reynolds, whose COVID-19 vaccine strike force administered vaccines, says it’s critical that people of color get vaccinated.
“The goal has always been to get shots, especially in the minority community, the African American community. Especially here in Boynton Beach, there is a vaccination rate of only 31%. Which means you have almost 70%, this refuge I haven’t even been vaccinated once, “said Dr. Reynolds.” So we’re trying to find innovative ways to involve people in our communities. “
Another vaccination clinic is scheduled at the center on October 16.
