Joe Biden is scared that “more people will die”, because the Trump team has not started to transfer the surveillance of the COVID-19 vaccines to the Biden team: “There was a plan for 300 million doses are available at the end of the year. What they are reporting now is 20 to 30 million doses available. Why? Where is the bottleneck? “
Biden mixed up the numbers – again. Dr Moncef Slaoui, head of Operation Warp Speed, predicts that 20 million doses will be shipped on December 11 and 12 – and immediately administered to health workers and other high-risk groups in all 50 states.
Tens of millions of additional doses will be delivered according to a precise plan in the following months, with delivery sites already designated by each state’s health department. By May, Slaoui predicts, enough Americans will have been vaccinated to create collective immunity, allowing the nation to return to normalcy – a historic triumph.
Provided the politics don’t blow things up, that is.
Biden’s advisers have dangerous ideas about who should get the shot first. Already, groups like the corrupt World Health Organization object that the United States has bought hundreds of millions of doses, putting Americans ahead of others. WHO wants each country to get a vaccine supply based on its population, sending 2 percent to each country, and then ultimately increasing to 20 percent. This would condemn America to more suffering, as herd immunity requires a vaccination rate of around 70%.
The scary thing is that Biden’s advisers are embracing this globalist mentality. God help us if they interfere with Warp Speed.
Biden’s COVID adviser Dr Ezekiel Emanuel denounces ‘vaccine nationalism’, calling it unethical that rich countries developing vaccines are getting the first dibs. Emanuel, a member of several WHO advisory groups, proposes in the journal Science a model of vaccine distribution whose effect would be to prioritize poor countries with younger populations first, because vaccinating an elderly person saves less years of life than vaccinating a younger person.
On Monday, Biden announced he would appoint arch-globalist Antony Blinken as secretary of state. Blinken denounces America first and presses to join WHO immediately. Biden and Blinken are unaware that the WHO hid the virus outbreak in Wuhan and paid for the Chinese Communist Party, allowing the disease to spread and kill millions of people.
As for who gets vaccinated, the American public has paid to be the first. The Trump administration used taxpayer dollars to prepay millions of doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines before they were approved. This reduced the development risk for these companies and ensured priority access. Several European countries have taken similar measures.
That’s not to say the rest of the world shouldn’t be helped. AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, which reported positive results for their vaccine on Monday, plan to distribute it in the third world at no profit, for as little as $ 3 to $ 5 a dose, and to bring in many manufacturers to do the same. The vaccine does not require refrigeration, a big plus for worldwide distribution.
Meanwhile, the best Americans can hope for is for Biden and his elected politicians to stay out of this country’s vaccination plan.
Unfortunately, Biden’s liberal COVID-19 advisory committee has other ideas.
Dr Michael Osterholm struggles with the idea that the military will help distribute the highly perishable vaccine. Dr. Céline Gounder, professor of global health at New York University and Biden advisor, says Operation Warp Speed needs to be revised to put more emphasis on things other than vaccines, including testing and “providing political support” to local governments to “support things that might be unpopular. Translation: stops. It’s crazy. Vaccines will make these drastic options unnecessary.
Although the Trump administration designed and launched Operation Warp Speed, Slaoui explains that the deployment of the vaccine was done completely “in isolation from the [Trump] administration, political environment and political context. He added: “No political interference, no bureaucracy, no red tape”. He hopes this will continue after the January 20 inauguration.
Responding to Biden’s demagogy over a transition delay costing lives, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar reassured the nation on Sunday that “career people” from the Department of Defense and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who is running Warp Speed on January 19 will be the same people on January 21.
Message to Biden: Ditch this medical miracle.
