A right-wing anti-vaccine radio host in West Palm Beach, Florida died of complications from COVID-19 on Wednesday.
Dick Farrel, 65, used his local talk show and social media to denounce Dr Anthony Fauci, whom he called a “crazy lie” and said no one should get the coronavirus shot. However, when COVID-19 sent him to the hospital for three weeks, he changed his tone, urging his friends to get vaccinated, friends told local station WPTV.
Farrel wrote at the beginning of July: “Vaccine Bogus Bull Shid !, Two friends I know got vaxed, now have Corona, hospitalized in critical condition. Thank you Moderna, FOR NOTHING! ” He mistakenly told his supporters that they wouldn’t need the vaccine if they had already survived COVID-19. The CDC has advised former coronavirus patients to get vaccinated.

Two days later he wrote: “Why take a vax promoted by people who lied all the time about masks.” He called Fauci “FOOT-chee” and said the infectious disease expert and Democrats “power trip libb loons” were conspiring to make the pandemic look like it was on so they could take more power.
At the end of June, he wrote: “So you think it wasn’t a DEMIC SCAM?” NO DEMOCRATES ELECTED has ever tested positive. He called the masks “face layers” and “face panties”.
A staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, Farrel has often written about baseless conspiracy theories of voter fraud. In June, he wrote an alarmist article about liberals wanting to withdraw the American flag, writing: “Civil war beckons.”

Amy Leigh Hair, a close friend of Farrel’s, wrote on Facebook: “COVID took one of my best friends! RIP Dick Farrel. He’s the reason I took the hit. He texted me and said to “Shut up!” He told me this virus was no joke and he said, “I wish I had caught it!”
Hair later told WPTV, “I was one of those people like him who didn’t trust the vaccine. I trusted my immune system. I was just more afraid of contracting COVID-19 than of any possible side effects from the vaccine. I’m glad I was vaccinated.
The deep-voiced host, real name Farrel Austin Levitt, also anchored for Newsmax after the sale of the radio station he worked for, WFLN, in 2016, according to friend and station owner George Kalman, who wrote Farrel’s obituary.
Farrel’s partner Kit Farley wrote on Facebook: “He was known as the other Rush Limbaugh. With a heavy heart, I can only say it was so unexpected. We will miss him.”
Farrel is one of many recent deaths of anti-vaccine campaigners who have succumbed to COVID-19. Just this week, a Texas Republican city councilor quickly and fatally battled the virus that saw him hospitalized and died within three days. He had used his position to advocate against vaccines and face masks.
