LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – After 10 weeks in the red (severe risk), the COVID-19 risk dial for Lincoln / Lancaster County has moved to the orange category (high risk).

Five key measurements are used to determine the position of the risk dial: case numbers; Test ability; Positivity rate; Contact follow-up; and hospital capacity.

With the risk dial lowering, the city’s restrictions are eased starting Friday, January 22.

  • Collect limitations no more than 50% indoors and 75% outdoors, no more than 10,000 in total
  • 50% bar and restaurant capacity, groups of 8 or less, groups 6 feet away, must be seated unless ordering or using the bathroom, wear mask when not seated
  • Bars and restaurants may resume serving alcohol until they close
  • Youth sports venues may seek approval from LLCHD to allow additional spectators per participant; groups of spectators are limited to 8 people, groups must be 6 feet apart

Starting Wednesday at 8 a.m., residents of Lancaster County can take advantage of a new online vaccine registry that will notify people when the vaccine is available to them. This registry will soon be available statewide.

It will ask you for information such as your name, address, date of birth, if you have any underlying health issues and how you would prefer to be contacted.

“It collects basic information that will be used to help determine what stage a person is in and when they can get a vaccine,” said director of health Pat Lopez.

Lopez said the Pinnacle Bank Arena would be used as a vaccination clinic for some Phase 1A health workers on Friday. As soon as the vaccinations of people in phase 1A are completed, vaccinations of people in phase 1B will begin.

1B includes people 65 years of age and older, people with certain underlying conditions, and specific groups, such as educators and other essential workers.

When you are able to get the vaccine, you will be contacted and they will make an appointment.
