At the moment, it seems that the delay is a benefit strictly reserved for users of Samsung's new Galaxy S10 5G phone. While customers using the Moto Z3 with the extra 5G, the Moto Mod will still have to pay to use the 5G after their first three months of service.
The decision to delay 5G billing is a smart move by Verizon. Until now, reviews on the service have been as disappointing as reception. Hayato Huseman, on his own, said, "Ultra-fast speeds are covered by scattered coverage and uneven performance."
During his stay in the city, Hayato explained how the phone alternates regularly between 5G and LTE because of the weak 5G signal, as well as slow or inconsistent 5G speeds, especially inside buildings. It does not make sense for Verizon to charge for a service you will not have access to most of the time. When you do, it could be a suboptimal experience. That's why, at the moment, Verizon is looking to give customers a little time to experiment with 5G before charging it extra fees while working to extend the coverage.
