GREENVILLE, North Carolina (WITN) – People hoping to get their COVID-19 vaccine at the Greenville Convention Center when the vaccination site opens next week can make an appointment early and early Friday.

Vidant Health says eligible community members can book their appointments starting at 8 a.m. on Friday.

When the schedule opens, you can see appointment availability by clicking here or signing into your MyChart account here.

Vidant recommends using this method, but if you can’t, you can call 252-847-8000.

The site opens Monday.

We’re told the majority of the appointment slots in the initial phase of vaccinations will be for the more than 8,000 people on the Pitt County Health Department’s waiting list. Those on the list will be contacted in the coming days and weeks by phone or e-mail.

The hospital system says the vaccination site will be open seven days a week and the goal is to vaccinate 4,000 people per week.

The site will not be able to accept vaccines without an appointment or by car.

Currently, anyone 65 years of age and over as well as healthcare workers can be vaccinated.
