VERNON, Calif. (KABC) – A woman has been arrested and the authorities have ended the confrontation with an apparently injured passenger after a shootout during a high speed chase that ended in Vernon on Friday. .

The race ended near the intersection of Downey Road and Bandini Boulevard at around 14:45.

The incident began after the Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies and police officers from Downey and Bell Gardens began pursuing a possible murder suspect in a black Toyota Prius.

A passenger suspect began shooting at the agents. After the Prius stopped behind a freight truck next to other vehicles, many police opened fire on the suspect vehicle.

The driver appeared to have blood on her pants when she went to the authorities.

Authorities deployed a robot, a drone and a flashbang while the suspect in the vehicle, who had shot at agents before the blockade, continued.

A K-9 entered the vehicle as authorities approached and pulled the passenger out of the vehicle. The condition of the passenger was not known immediately, but the suspect was transported.

Downey police believe that the man involved in the lawsuit and the showdown is the wanted suspect in the fatal murder of a co-owner of an alcohol store in Downey earlier in the week.
